A brief Bio about Dave v Leatt

About Dave

Born in East London in the early 60's I was blessed to grow up in such a diverse time musically, having experienced the changes from the 60's music scene roll into the 70's and onwards. My family fully supported me, and my brother Steven started me playing guitar at the age of 9, so the journey began! I formed my first band with some local friends in 1972 at the age of 11, 'The Crypt' was a 3 piece rock band, which gave us our first exposure to gigging at weddings and summer fairs in and around Hackney and Islington in North/East London. At the age of 16 I joined a school friends band called Transit, this was a real launch into full set live work playing covers from Bowie, Rolling Stones, Hendrix etc.

I wasn’t long before I started writing songs, and my musical bond with other band members Mark Morgan ( Bass/Vocals ) and Gary Law ( drums/vocals) meant we had a good ability to arrange and shape the new stuff, and it wasn’t long before we were playing some of London’s top venues like Ronnie Scotts, The Marquee Club ( Wardor St ) The Rock Garden, Town and Country Club to mention just a few. During this period we was managed by ex feather weight boxing champion Victor Andretti, and we was fortunate to have our own rehearsal studio above Victor’s Restaurant called the ‘ringside’ on Hackney Road East London.

Now residing in Thailand with my own studio and a small network of fellow Musicians, and enjoying being musically creative, and joining occasional live gigs in the community,

Having worked on various album projects with many fabulas musicians, and friends, its one of lifes great joys to be part of a creative collection of musicial souls.

Over the last 2 years I have been involved with 4 album projects, some just session playing and vocals, and 2 complete Albums with production and arrangement.

Moving forward

It certainly feels like ' moving forward ' most days, with continuing and new projects coming in to the pot virtually every day 🙂
